Ponytail palm, Beaucarnea recurvata, is oddly neither a palm nor a tree, but actually is related to Agave in the Succulent family and is native to arid dessert regions of Mexico and Central America. It is sometimes called "Elephant's Foot" as a common name. It is a long lived, very slow growing tree adding a foot of growth around every 5 years, or longer.
In native habitats it can grow to 30'; as an outdoor landscape plant it may grow to 10', but as a potted indoor plant they rarely exceed 5' tall.
Do not overwater. Fast draining soil, water every 1-2 weeks or so. Full sun Zones 9-11
